Nissan Motor Co. named Michael Soutter SVP of U.S. marketing and sales for Nissan and Infiniti, the company announced on Sept. 17.

Soutter will oversee marketing and sales activities for the Nissan brand in the U.S., while also overseeing the business of luxury brand Inifinti in the Americas, per the release.
"Mike is a strong and experienced leader within Nissan who brings a track record of success working with our dealer partners," Christian Meunier, chairman of Nissan Americas said in a statement. "As we continue to build momentum in the U.S., Mike is the right person to drive our efforts to enhance the Nissan and Infiniti brands, deliver great customer experiences and grow our sales in a competitive market."
Soutter has been with Nissan for more than a decade. In that time, he has held several leadership positions including VP of aftersales for Nissan Americas and corporate VP of Nissan global aftersales. Nissan said in each of these roles, Soutter drove strong performance, which resulted in record operating profits.
Soutter also previously held leadership roles in sales and aftersales for Nissan Canada.
Soutter replaces Vinay Shahani, who is departing Nissan to take an opportunity outside of the automotive industry, according to the release.
Nissan has undergone numerous executive changes over past several months after management missteps led to a failed merger with Honda Motor Co. earlier this year. It led to the ouster of its former CEO in March and reshuffling of its corporate leadership in an effort to turn around the financially struggling automaker.
