Volkswagen Group of America has named Jeannine Ginivan as chief communications officer, the company announced in an Aug. 28 press release.

The appointment marks Ginivan’s return to Volkswagen, where she was previously head of corporate and internal communications. In June 2018, she departed the automaker to join General Motors as its director of public policy communications, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Ginivan will lead Volkswagen’s communications across its North American operations and report directly to Kjell Gruner, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. She will also oversee corporate, product and internal communications, as well as various public relations strategies.
In a statement, Gruner said Ginvian “brings exemplary expertise across corporate, workforce, sustainability and public policy communications, which makes her an excellent fit for our company and where we’re headed.”
Most recently, Ginivan was EVP at Curley Company, where she advised a global health nonprofit on risk and crisis planning, as well as supported business development initiatives. She served as senior director of public policy and sustainability communications at GM before departing the automaker in September 2024, per her LinkedIn.
